What do you get when you cross hardworking The FEW Associates Mark Miller, Drew Mitsdarfer, Chris Mitsdarfer, Dave Mitsdarfer, and Randy Dukes with the Legendary Dean Family of Raymore, Missouri? A spectacular goose hunt.Marine F.A.S.T. team member David Butler-Herring joined Father and Son Warriors Paul Schmitz Sr. and Paul Schmitz II in the field this weekend and gave the geese all they could handle. Paul II, or “the duece” as he was called this weekend, participated in a The FEW event this summer and has been talking about the experience to his father ever since. Paul Sr has not been in the field hunting since he set down his weapon and returned home from Vietnam. For those of you keeping score at home this means that Paul Sr. has not hunted since before The FEW Board Member, Chris Wolfenbarger was born. The FEW was truly blessed to be able to put both father and son together on this hunt. Both Paul Sr. and Paul II agree that waterfowling might just be the family’s newest hobby. This is probably for the best because both of Paul II’s sons lobbied their father for a shotgun upgrade as he was packing for this trip.
On a side note, The FEW salutes the Schmitz family’s amazing heroism. Paul Schmitz Sr received two Purple Hearts for his service to our country. Paul Schmitz II received two Purple Hearts and a Valorous Commendation for his service to our country. The tradition of service runs deep in the Schmitz family and our Nation will forever be in debt of your sacrifices.
