CMS to have Veterans Day assembly Nov. 11The Chillicothe Middle School will have its annual Veteran’s Day assembly at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. This year’s featured speaker is SGT Chris Wolfenbarger (retired) of the Missouri National Guard’s 1141st Sapper Company. A resident of Lee’s Summit, Wolfenbarger is a veteran of the Afghanistan Campaign and the recipient of several service awards, including the Combat Medic Badge. Wounded by an IED detonation in 2010, Wolfenbarger was instrumental in the creation of the Foundation of Exceptional Warriors (the FEW), an organization that helps other veterans overcome the emotional and physical damage incurred during their time of service by providing outdoor adventure opportunities that develop support and camaraderie amongst participants. The assembly will also feature performances by the Chillicothe Middle School Band, Choir and local multi-talented musician Jamie Pauls. “CMS would like to extend an invitation to all veterans to attend this assembly so that we may honor their service,” said Kaycee Blattner, a CMS teacher who is helping organize the program.

Two questions we are continually asked is “how can I help or how can I get involved?” Like any non-profit we need funding to help send our Exceptional Warriors on outdoor therapeutic events. This year we will do close to 60 events – everything from fight night to fishing on the renowned Cricket II to Deer and Elk Hunts in the great Rockies.

22 Veterans are committing suicide everyday. When these warriors attends events it helps in more than one way. Want to know more… http://www.exceptionalwarriors.org/warriors-say/
