Helping veterans is the purpose of The FEW
By Judy Dingman
Many military veterans say only other military veterans can truly understand what they went through on the battlefields as they answered their country’s call for service.
Many of the those veterans come home wounded and maimed for life. Some of those wounds are visible to the world, some are not.
The Foundation for Exceptional Warriors seeks to help heal some of those wounds and lesson the burdens for their fellow veterans.
Founded four years ago by the people it represents, FEW assists wounded warriors, those recognized for acts of valor and those who served in Special Operations.
According to information on the group’s flyer, one percent of Americans serve in the military, and only two percent of those represent the wounded, recipients of valorous medals and Special Operations.
FEW does not confine itself to supporting veterans of just one era, but those from any war. David ButlerHerring is a local associate of the group. Local people began to learn about FEW when he and other associates had a booth at the Aurora Area Chamber of Commerce Car Show in October. In December, ButlerHerring spoke to local Chapter 1023 of Vietnam Veterans of America.
