One in five active-duty military and/or veterans struggle with Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or physical disabilities. 22 to 25 commit suicide every day!
Close to two million men and women have served our country in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are returning home, trying to find ways to feel whole again and resume their “normal” life.
But it is not just the men and women who have served the last 6 to 8 years who struggle daily. It is all who served from WWII to Korea to Vietnam to the Gulf war to Iraq and Afghanistan.
While some veterans may require a more clinical approach for their visible or non-visible wounds, there are others who seek a different experience such as letting nature serve as a co-therapist. These men and women greatly benefit from time spent outdoors.
The FEW understands. Their outdoor therapeutic events offer a unique way to bring the healing power of the land and ocean to our Exceptional Warriors.
Charles Scott, MSG Retired, US Army – “Your group The FEW is a real asset for vets that have not connected with someone else. A lot of us have had that ” Oh yeah, I understand what you’re saying, I’ve heard that before from you vets.” A good portion of the time its some counselor that is just barely earning a paycheck.
Your group The Few is really First Class and it brings back the military in a non-military, informal and fun way. Get a group of vets together and let them work together putting out decoys, prepping the area, doing all those things that are needed to get in play for a successful hunt and at the end of the event, the vets leave as old friends .”
Event Attendee – “I was invited to the Dove hunt by a friend that saw my pain….and there a new chapter of healing began. When it was all over, I asked myself, why hadn’t I done this sooner? Why didn’t I ask for help from my comrades who probably understood better than I trying to understand it all on my own or with people who did not have a clue. So know I ask myself, was it worth it? Amen! It is absolutely worth putting down my pride and asking for help. It was absolutely worth me seeing that there are other brothers hurting just like I am seeking healing. The FEW experience to me opened up a new world of opportunities and mustering of motivation—a fight with a different purpose.”
